TRUST. SPEAK. HEAL. This is more than a motto — it’s a lifeline.
Every day, American Indian and Alaska Native communities face the crisis of domestic and sexual violence at rates far higher than any other group in the U.S. Too often, they are left without culturally safe places to turn. Too often, they go missing, or worse — and no one answers.
StrongHearts Native Helpline exists to change that.
We are a Native-led, 24/7 confidential and ANONYMOUS helpline created by and for Native people. Our advocates offer judgment-free support, rooted in cultural understanding and respect for tribal sovereignty and lifeways. We are proud to serve survivors across the country — from cities to reservations to remote towns — wherever our relatives need us.
Founded in 2017 as a partnership between the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center and the National Domestic Violence Hotline, StrongHearts was built in response to a powerful truth: mainstream systems often do not work for Native survivors. We exist to fill that gap — with heart, with honor, and with deep cultural integrity.
Through our free and confidential services — available by phone, chat, or text — StrongHearts offers:
Peer support from trained Native advocates
Crisis intervention and emotional support
Culturally relevant safety planning
Education about healthy relationships and violence
Referrals to Native-centered service providers
As we recognize Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Awareness this month, we ask you to give during Native Nonprofit Giving Day to uplift the only national helpline dedicated solely to Native survivors of violence. Your gift honors the lives of those we’ve lost — and helps protect those still in harm’s way.
Monthly giving is one of the most impactful ways to support our work. A recurring donation provides consistent, dependable support — so we can answer every call/text/chat, train more advocates, and expand access to care in the communities that need it most. Even $10 a month can sustain hope and healing for our relatives.
Your support fuels culturally rooted, life-affirming care — and helps create a future where every Native person is safe, seen, and supported.
