The cast and crew of our fall musical, The Addams Family, have been hard at work for weeks. Rehearsing lines, learning dance and swordfighting choreography, building a creative set, finding all of the unique props and costumes needed for this show -- all of these things are running smoothly thanks to Emily Gill, musical director and theatre teacher, and our very talented production team. However, the cost to put on several productions per year is not funded by the district. Just securing the rights to put on a production carries a hefty price tag! This means that all of our expenses must be fully covered by outside sources.
Your donation goes directly to cover the cost of: (with examples from The Addams Family)
• stipends to pay professional artists to help with each production
(This fall alone, we have counted on the expertise of a choreographer, tech director, costumer, and fight choreographer.)
• securing the rights to put on each production
(The Addams Family will have one performance for local school kids and three full performances.)
• costumes (This show, in particular, requires costumes that range from a 1950's flight attendant to a 1920's flapper dress, prehistoric cavemen, and even a Titanic victim. They are all thoroughly represented with intricate detailing of each outfit with matching shoes!)
• set construction pieces and paint supplies (As you can imagine, the set for The Addams Family is intricate and colorful! All of the wood, hardware, paint, and extraneous supplies need to be sourced and the set efficiently built for maximum use of the supplies that we have.)
• make up and hairstyling supplies that are unique to each character's hairstyle (Uncle Fester's makeup application alone requires a lengthy process, much less the entire cast of this makeup-heavy musical.)
• theatre production equipment (In the last few years, your donations have helped us purchase a new sound board and lights, microphones for our actors, and other much-needed upgrades to our equipment.)
The mission of the Central High School Theater Boosters is to ensure the on-going production of Central High School theater arts performances through marketing and fundraising, for the benefit of all Central High School students and the city of St. Paul. The Central High School theater program is a vibrant community of actors, technicians, musicians, and dedicated teachers who put on amazing performances on a very modest budget. The Theater Boosters support this critical program and the talented students and artists that make up the program, and we invite you to join us. All money raised is used for equipment, supplies, teaching artists, and other support. Thank you!
