Starflower Montessori School

Starflower Montessori School is a Black-led organization which will serve children ages 16 months to 6 years in North Minneapolis. 

Our mission is to affirm the identities of every child and free them to rise to their highest potential. We are a community embedded school that welcomes and nurtures children and families in a culturally sustained environment. We cultivate mind and body in a way that allows children to create justice in the world around them.

Startup Fundraising

We are currently fundraising for our Startup Fund. One of the biggest barriers for new early childhood programs is start up costs. Your support will help us prepare to open our doors by funding materials, furniture, and renovations needed to meet licensing requirements.

More About Us

Our Teacher-Leaders are Krista Lucas and Sylvie Dosseh, who have a combined 30 years of experience in teaching and administration. We are passionate about providing high quality, accessible Montessori education to young children. Our school is committed to serving at least 60% low income families and will be providing scholarships. We are also committed to serving at least 60% historically underserved children including children of color, children with disabilities, homeless children, and others who are typically not served well by educational systems. 

Starflower Montessori School is a member of the Wildflower Network of schools. Wildflower is an ecosystem of decentralized Montessori micro-schools that support children, teachers, and parents. Wildflower aspires to give all children and families the opportunity to choose high quality, beautiful learning environments as they follow life’s unfolding journey. We are also a member of Montessori Partners Serving All Children.
