Star of the North Academy

Star of the North Academy opened at the start of the 2014-2015 school year.   Parents and founding community members wanted to offer families with a choice over the traditional public schools in the north metro area for their children in kindergarten through eighth grade.   The goal was to be able to offer a rigorous curriculum that focused on academic growth and excellence in a small, caring, family like environment within a diverse community.   We are proud to say we have been able to do that.  Class sizes are typically under 20 students, teacher retention is high, allowing for the continuity that enhances relationships, our families are welcomed and considered part of the education team. Academically, we out preform many local districts on state exams and have been recognized by MDE for our achievements.  We offer a world language, intervention and ELL support.  We provide transportation in order to help families send their children to our school. Keeping true to our vision of small class sizes can create some economic strain, as school funding is based on enrollment. Our fundraising efforts this year will go towards providing students with science and technology equipment, new additions to the library and classroom resources.
