Star Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to stillbirth research, education, awareness, and prevention.
Every year in the the United States alone, 26,000 families will endure the stillbirth of their child. For most of these families, they will never have an answer for why their otherwise healthy child has died. Worldwide, over 3 million babies are stillborn every year.
Stillbirth has historically been a taboo subject in social settings and suffers from a lack of awareness and education. Until recently, very little was done to understand what might be contributing to or causing these tragedies. The families who love these children were often left to grieve in silence. In April 2011, the medical journal Lancet stated that "Stillbirth is the most understudied issue in medicine today."
Star Legacy Foundation works to provide resources and support for families who have been affected by stillbirth, supports and encourages research into stillbirth prevention, provides and promotes education regarding stillbirth issues, and raises awareness to enhance understanding and support for all stillbirth related issues.
