Saint John Vianney College Seminary

A nonprofit organization

Saint John Vianney College Seminary is one of the largest college seminaries in the United States, representing dioceses throughout the nation, with approximately 100 undergraduate men in formation annually.

Established in 1968, Saint John Vianney College Seminary nurtures the seeds of a priestly vocation and prepares young men for major seminary through a premier education, a systematic formation in Christian character and a traditional Catholic program of spiritual growth. Our seminarians are full-time undergraduate students at the University of St. Thomas and live in community on campus. Seminarians have access to the resources and benefits of the University, which provides our men with a full college and seminary experience.

More than 500 of our alumni are serving as ordained priests today. Many more serve as joyful, Catholic lay leaders who build up the Church throughout the world.

Saint John Vianney College Seminary forms young men in the human, intellectual, spiritual and pastoral dimensions of formation and helps them to discern a potential call from God to the priesthood. Our formation program is founded upon the norms of Pastores Dabo Vobis, the Apostolic Exhortation of St. John Paul II; The Program of Priestly Formation from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops; and, most recently, the Ratio Fundamentalis from the Congregation for the Clergy.
