A Message from VCC Artistic Director, Daryl Timmer

Music has a tremendous power to uplift, bring joy, to make you smile.  Each season we strive to bring a sense of adventure, beauty, and inspiration into our programs.  The Valley Chamber Chorale is excited to present our annual “Christmas with the Valley Chamber Chorale” concerts along with concerts entitled “Jubilate Deo” and “Chiaroscuro” in this our 49th season of making and sharing the gift of music in the St. Croix Valley and beyond.  Our concerts will be filled with amazing artistry and incredibly diverse works of music by an eclectic collection of composers from many underrepresented communities.  We are committed to our mission of “embracing the challenge of performing diverse and compelling music to stir emotions and delight our patrons.” 

Just as the Valley Chamber Chorale stands shoulder-to-shoulder, you too are part of the larger chorus that sustains us!  Your support is necessary and impactful.  Your contributions, above and beyond purchasing tickets, have helped make the VCC a leading choral arts organization in the St. Croix valley, the region and beyond.  We lift our voices together with YOU, our treasured patrons and audience members, to move forward into this, our 49th season.

Who We Are

The Valley Chamber Chorale (VCC) is a strong community voice for the Saint Croix Valley based in Stillwater, MN.  It is the only highly skilled amateur choir in the vicinity and has been a beloved cultural asset since 1975.  It's 40+ voices ranging in age from 18-80 reach an audience of around 1,600 people each year.  VCC members are from all walks of life, as is its audience.  

Our History

The Valley Chamber Chorale was originally formed in 1975 as a creative outlet for adults with previous musical experience who sought an opportunity to perform sophisticated works not normally attempted by church choirs and other singing groups.  The Chorale was incorporated in 1977 as a nonprofit organization and is a member of Chorus America.  The 2023-2024 season marks the Chorale's 49th year.  Current Artistic Director,  Daryl Timmer, is now in his 8th year leading the VCC.

Music Over The Years

The strengths of the Valley Chamber Chorale lie in the immense talent and dedication of the singers and in the diverse and unusual concert programming.  All concerts are self-produced by Chorale volunteers.  Artistic Director Daryl Timmer purposely fills every concert with selections that are familiar as well as unique and less familiar.  Through creative programming, he challenges the audience to experience a greater depth of choral music.

Over the years, the Chorale has developed the technical and musical artistry required to successfully perform the most demanding of choral works.  Notable accomplishments of the Chorale include:
