Saint Anthony Park Area Seniors

A nonprofit organization

200 donors

For more than 38 years a corps of volunteers has been helping older residents of the St. Anthony Park neighborhood in St. Paul, Lauderdale, and Falcon Heights west of Cleveland to stay healthy and safely in their homes.  We do this by providing access to neighborhood-based volunteer and professional staff who provide integrated health and social services, educational programs and advocacy.  We also provide supportive services to caregivers of elderly relatives and friends.  We advocate for seniors by educating service providers about neighborhood-based home health care.

This model of neighbors helping neighbors was started in 1981 by a group of visionary members of the community, with help from health-care professionals. From 1981 to 2011 we were known as the St. Anthony Park Block Nurse Program. We changed our name to St. Anthony Park Area Seniors during our 30th anniversary year. Since our beginning we have served over 3,500 seniors in our area. Our program, the first of its kind in Minnesota, has become a model for programs elsewhere.  As an organization, these programs are called the Living at Home Network.
