Society of St Vincent De Paul Nativity of Mary Conference

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, Nativity of Mary Conference is a mass distributor of food to those in need primarily serving the Bloomington, Richfield and South Minneapolis as well as elsewhere. We began distribution food in October 2020 on the second Saturday of every month at the South parking lot of Nativity of Mary Church located at 9900 Lyndale Avenue South, Bloomington, MN 55420. The Nativity of Mary Free Food Giveaway has been growing steadily ever since. In January VEAP and the Conference collaborated to have another event on the fourth Saturday of the month at the Church South parking lot. That collaboration is working well. At each event we distribute about 40 pounds of food per family to about 160 cars, wheelchairs, bicycle and walk-ons. Essentially, we doubled the number of families we served every month. And those numbers have increased by about 20% over the last two months It is a joyful event to serve our neighbors in need.  

Our food supply is provided via a contract with Second Harvest Heartland. We are TEFAP eligible and apply and receive grants through the State and through private donations like yourselves. We have no employees or paid positions. Our only expenses are tax filings, insurance and corporate filings, etc. We operate on a shoestring so that all the money goes to helping those in need.

   We also have a Home visit ministry to meet with our neighbors seeking financial help to avoid eviction. The clients we serve need help to pay past-due rent to avoid eviction. We offer to pray with them and give them hope.

Our Conference is one of 14 located throughout the Twin Cities area. We are a faith-based 501c(3) tax exempt organization. Our mission is help our brothers and sisters in need and to bring them hope. We believe that we are called to serve our brothers and sisters in need and that when we encounter them we see the face of Jesus.
