Did you know 85% of learning comes through our eyes and ears!

To ensure a better educational future for children, the Sight & Hearing Association (SHA)  provides vision and hearing screening to over 5,000 children each year through our mobile health program. Of the children we screen, 1 in 4 preschoolers will have a vision and/or hearing issue that will require further medical care and of school-age children, that number climbs to 4 out of 10 children. Since 85 percent of learning comes through our ability to see and hear properly, preserving these two vital senses is critically important. Studies regarding child development over the past decade have underscored the crucial role of vision and hearing health in a child's emerging social, emotional and intellectual growth.  When a child's ability to see or hear is restricted the implications will spread into nearly every facet of the child's life. The solution to these problems is usually rooted in three critically important steps: prevention, early-detection and education, which are the core of SHA programs. Your contribution goes a long way in helping us maintain the quality of vision and hearing prevention outreach and awareness services we have provided children for over 60 years. Thank you so much for believing in the importance of our health services!
