Providing the highest level of child care requires skill, resources and years of experience. Shoreline has been serving the southwest Lake Minnetonka area since 1969. Governed by a parent-led Board of Directors, we encourage parental involvement in a way that few other centers do. It’s an aspect of Shoreline that many of our parents appreciate and enjoy.

Being a private, nonprofit organization means that all of our income is put directly back into the school. This helps enable us to provide high-quality care that is affordable.

We, at Shoreline Early Childhood Development Center, believe that each child is a unique individual, to be challenged to develop his or her fullest potential within a secure, nurturing environment, which fosters each child’s creativity and positive self-image.  Our program is designed to enhance the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical growth of each child through developmentally appropriate practices and activities.

We believe that a quality educational program offers a stimulating environment in which children explore individually with the teacher as a guide.  The child initiates activities that the teacher, through positive, affectionate, and individual guidance, helps the child form into a meaningful experience.  It is through such experiences that the child builds and develops the skills he or she will need for subsequent learning.   

We believe that parents are the most significant adults in a child’s life.  We offer an environment in which parents are able to participate and take an active role in their child’s growth and development.   

Ultimately, we believe that children are our most precious resource and our role as parents and educators is to protect, nurture, and ensure the foundation of our future.

Our experienced, professional staff is supervised by the Center Director and Assistant Director. Many of our teachers have degrees in Early Childhood Development and/or Education. We love the staff that we have who give so much of themselves.

Our staff works closely with parents to understand each child’s individual needs and abilities. With the broad range of activities your child experiences here, Shoreline becomes a second home for them. Communication between parents and teachers is critical to maintaining high quality care. We are committed to providing a support structure for families. 

Our biggest challenge currently , as it is across the nation,  is finding quality, educated and caring staff and being able to pay them a fair wage. It is also very expensive to hire substitutes, who are making more than the staff we have hired as full time employees. So any and all donations would be greatly appreciated.
