Change Starts With Community โ And It Starts With Food
North Minneapolis is the 5th largest food desert in America. Too many of our neighbors face empty fridges, limited access to healthy food, and the daily trauma of poverty and violence. Hunger here isnโt just about food โ itโs about dignity, safety, and survival.
At Shiloh Cares Food Shelf, we do more than feed families โ we empower them. In the heart of North Minneapolis, weโve built a model that integrates food access, youth employment, urban agriculture, and violence prevention. Local youth grow the produce, stock the shelves, serve their neighbors, and build real futures through meaningful work.
Our mission is more than food โ and bigger than violence. We use food as a tool to prevent violence, create jobs, build health, and restore hope.
But every day, weโre turning away families due to soaring demand, rising grocery costs, and cuts to critical programs like SNAP. Our infrastructure is strong. Our community trust is deep. But we urgently need the resources to meet the moment.
1 in 5 Minnesota households is food insecure- and 40% of households of color face food insecurity vs. just 16% of white households. Grocery prices have risen nearly 30% in the last five years in 2024, Minnesota food shelves saw over 9 million visits โ a record high.
Our neighbors in North Minneapolis and Hennepin County are being hit hardest. This Give to the Max Day, letโs help them SNAP back from food insecurity.
Thanks to a generous $20,000 match from "The Victor & Christine Anthony Family Foundation", your gift will be doubled โ every dollar will go twice as far to feed families, employ youth, and build safer communities.
Whether itโs a $25 gift or $2,500, no one should go to bed hungry in America. Not today. Not ever.
Weโve fed thousands, trained youth, and changed lives โ but weโre just getting started.
๐ Donate today to Change Starts With Community and help us build a Minneapolis that is Safe, Healthy, and Hopeful. Together, we can ensure that this isnโt just a moment of generosity โ but a movement of lasting change.
๐ Located at 1201 West Broadway, Minneapolis, MN โ Proudly serving all residents of Minneapolis and Hennepin County with dignity and a smile.
