Shalom Hill Farm provides a unique "place as teacher" for respite and renewal.  Born from a vision to better prepare future ministry leaders for pastoral care in small town and rural settings, the Farm provides firsthand experiences and education in context.

The Farm is committed to using as many locally produced foods as possible and cultivates many of its own vegetables, berries, and herbs.  We have our own laying hens for eggs, raise chickens for butchering, and buy locally raised beef.  Depending on the season, we also have other farm animals grazing and crops in rotation.  And we exclusively use and sell Fair Trade coffees and chocolate.

At the Farm, we hold a core focus on care of creation through environmentally conscience living.  This is reflected in the buildings themselves - some original to the Farm and others, such as the Prairie Spirit Commons, were designed by environmental architect John Lyle.  Prairie grass walking trails connect to the Farm, guiding walkers through the prairie and adjacent conservation wetlands.  And don't forget to look up to enjoy the bright, sparkling stars at night!

The quiet rural setting, the wonderful hospitality, and home-style cooking has attracted more than just seminary classes.  Families, college groups, church groups, quilters, scrapbook groups, fiber arts groups and other education groups now use Shalom Hill Farm year round for small and large group retreats as well as for personal retreats.

Funds raised will offset the costs of seeds, plants, animal care, building upkeep, and the programs that allow students, young and old, to experience the joys and challenges of rural life.  Please help support the work and ministry of this engaging, vital, unique jewel on the prairie that is Shalom Hill Farm.

Thank you for your support!
