Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota

A nonprofit organization

Sustainable Farming Association has been bringing farmers together for over 30 years. Led by farmers, we bring a boots-on-the-ground approach to making change in Minnesota’s agricultural landscape:

  1. In 2023, we hosted 25 field days, workshops, and conferences. Highlights include fencing workshops, dairy pasture walks, Kernza field days, and of course our flagship events: the Annual Conference and Midwest Soil Health Summit.
  2. Our ten regional chapters hosted 70+ regional gatherings, festivals, and field days in their communities, bringing together farmers and eaters alike.
  3. SFA staff worked directly with 37 farmers on 26 farms this year through our on-farm consulting program.

SFA is known for being nimble and quick to respond to the changing needs of farmers. In 2024, we plan to expand our programming to better serve seasoned farmers by offering multi-day, intensive field workshops and dig deep into topics like direct marketing, stockmanship, and agrivoltaics.

We know that farmers play a pivotal role in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The educational opportunities we provide will also help farmers adapt their operations to be resilient in a changing climate. It’s an investment for the long haul.

Please consider making a donation to SFA as part of your year-end giving plans, and give us a good start to 2024.
