We believe humans and animals share a special historical connection. Animals have been our workers, companions, and protectors. This special bond is even deeper between a person and their pet.

Imagine the scenario where finding care for a beloved pet is the barrier for attending a chemical dependency treatment program. Imagine the questions; will I get them back? will they be safe and loved? will people understand? can I afford this?

We hear from people daily about the fear of losing their best friend. At Serenity Kennel we say don’t let your best friend lose you.

Dependency on alcohol and/or drugs is an unfortunate reality that indiscriminately destroys lives. In the United States, over 24 million people misuse daily, leading to 100’s of thousands of yearly deaths. Locally, over 4,500 annual deaths are attributed to this disease. That’s over 12 fellow Minnesotans per day - over half of them leave a pet behind.

The Serenity Kennel Fostering Program provides an urgently needed pathway for recovery. Our non-profit organization reunites people who have completed treatment plans with their beloved pets. This gift of new beginnings from our foster volunteers is a beautiful effort to serve, and we can do so much more.
