Roots and Wings Forest School

Enriching our community through education in the great outdoors

Roots and Wings Forest School is a nonprofit nature-based preschool and micro school in New York Mills, MN serving children ages 3-12 through year round educational programming in the great outdoors.  

Our school opened it's woodland classroom to our first group of wildlings in the fall of 2020. What started as a weekly program serving 10 learners, has quickly grown to serving over 100 children in 2021 and operating our programs 50 hours a week in 2022.

↟ Ensure tuition costs remain manageable for families while providing a high quality, low staff/student ratio program

↟ Continue to improve our education spaces, curriculum materials, and supplies that directly benefit our learners

↟ Provide free community programming each month through our Family Nature Days that are open to all

↟ Provide scholarships to families in need of financial assistance to attend our programs

↟  Provide our staff with livable wages, ensuring committed, high quality staff with a passion for education in nature
