Bikes4Kids is dedicated to providing children and people in need with a bike and a smile. We give them a bike and they find the smile.
Bikes4Kids is a 501c3 all volunteer organization dedicated to giving bikes to children and people in need. We collect bikes from organizations, governmental agencies and individuals. This year we expect to collect between 2500 and 3000 bikes. From these bikes we select ones to refurbish. Others will be dismantled for parts and the remaining scrap is sold to help finance our operations. Nothing goes in a landfill. Funds derived from the sale of scrap are used to purchase helmets, locks, safety and maintenance information. We do not give bikes directly to individuals but instead work with over 100 charitable organizations and government agencies to insure the people getting the bikes are truly in need. They send us a request for bikes which we in turn fulfill with a refurbished bike. All bikes sent out have completed our rigorous repair, inspection and cleaning process before they are sent to the recipient. When the bikes are sent out not only are they in the best possible condition they also have a new helmet, lock and documentation to provide a safe and rewarding experience for the rider. We have experienced dramatic growth from 2011 when we started by giving 120 bikes to 2017 where we estimate giving 1000 bikes.
