Riverwalk Market Fair

Our mission is to support local farmers and artisans for the benefit of our community. We do that by organizing one of the best outdoor markets in the state where you can find amazing artists and crafters, bakers and cottage food producers, youth vendors, local farmers and ranchers and other community organizations and non-profits.  The market brings vibrancy to downtown Northfield and we use our connections to build community, provide education and, crucially, to nourish those most in need through our many food access programs.  

For the last 2 years Riverwalk Market Fair has partnered with the local Community Action Center to buy produce from vendor farmers for donation to the food shelf. This has results in over 20,000 pounds in food on the tables of local families and more than $50,000 in the pockets of local socially disadvantaged farmers. 

The first year of this program was funded by a federal grant called the Local Food Purchasing Assistance Grant. This grant was cut in the early days of 2025 and after the funding ran out, Riverwalk Market Fair and the Northfield community came together to continue this incredibly worthwhile program. With one-in-five families in Rice County using the food shelf regularly, we know how important this work is. Addressing food insecurity in our community is an important mission of Riverwalk Market Fair. This work supports local farmers, small businesses, and families in our community who need access to high quality, nutritious, healthy food. We are so grateful for those who have came alongside us to keep this program alive and we humbly as that folks consider giving so we can continue this impactful work.
