Rice County United Way's Imagination Library

A nonprofit organization

100% complete

$5,000 Goal

Dolly Parton was inspired to begin her Imagination Library by her father, who was unable to read or write. She wanted to take action and play a part in planting the seeds for children to grow up and achieve their dreams. This popular program is FREE to families, but we need donations to keep it going and we are asking you to sponsor a child. Currently more than 1400 children -- nearly half of children in Rice County -- are enrolled.

Dolly Parton foundation experts select age-appropriate books and mail the books for $2.10/month per child, age birth to 5. What is United Way's role? Rice County Area United Way promotes and manages sign ups in Rice County for a small budget primarily to print sign-up brochures, and we send payments to Imagination Library for every child enrolled.

"Imagination Library books are his favorite books," said one parent holding up a one-year-old at a recent community baby shower. Some families would have no books at home for their children if it weren't for Imagination Library. You can sponsor a child for one year -- or add $30 per child to sponsor several children! Thank you for helping keep this program going in Rice County.
