We are excited to share that Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center is now Relationship Safety Alliance! We continue to be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization led by a volunteer board and an amazing and capable staff. We continue to serve individuals who have or are experiencing some type of relationship abuse through our three signature programs and two facilities. We provide our services at no cost thanks to generous support from our donors and grant funding. We will continue to rely on our community to support these programs until the day we can eliminate the stigma around getting help and changes in the legal system ensure every abuser is held accountable.

At our Louise Seliski Shelter, we believe no one deserves or wants to be abused. All people have the right to be physically protected by the society in which they live. RSA recognizes that most people stay in an abusive home because they have nowhere else to go and because they are afraid. Our Louise Seliski Shelter provides a 7,239 square foot facility where people can be physically safe while beginning the process of finding healthy alternatives to their violent situation. The Shelter is the only 24-hour domestic violence shelter in Minnesota’s Region 5 (Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena Counties); however, geographic boundaries are not enforced when providing services to victim/survivors of abuse. The Louise Seliski Shelter provides residential services to more than 400 individuals (men, women and children and their pets) every year.  More than 5,500 additional people receive non-residential services from our shelter annually.

At our Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center, we believe children deserve to have a healthy relationship with their parents. The Center is named after 4- and 5-year-old brothers who attended our children’s support group before their father murdered them during an unsupervised visit in 1996. The Center began offering supervised visits and safe exchanges in 2000 with the hope that having a safe space available would prevent other families from experiencing such a devastating loss. Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center is a family-friendly and nurturing place where families in crisis can visit with each other in safety 365 days a year. Services are also available to children in foster and adoptive care situations. The Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center is an ideal place for a parent and child who have never met to become acquainted or for parents and children who have not seen each other for a long time to get reacquainted. Every year we provide more than 1,500 individuals (including more than 500 children) with supervised visitation and safe exchange services.

The major objectives at Relationship Safety Alliance are to provide:

  • 24-hour intake at the physical shelter with 6 bedrooms and 26 beds for adults, children and pets;
  • 24-hour confidential, anonymous and free crisis hotline;
  • on-scene advocacy;
  • criminal justice intervention advocacy;
  • information and referrals for clients;
  • assistance with filing protective orders (orders for protection and harassment restraining orders);
  • accompaniment and support at civil and criminal court hearings;
  • supervised visits and safe exchanges;
  • self-help support groups; and,
  • public speaking and professional training for the community.

Generous community partners, just like YOU, provide invaluable assistance to our clients, residents and staff. RSA could not operate without your support. We have more than 180 amazing volunteers supporting our victimization programs and services who complete almost 4,000 volunteer hours each year!

Know that when you support Relationship Safety Alliance, you are making a difference for real families experiencing real crisis. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting our cause!
