Refugee Housing Minnesota’s guiding principle is “Everyone Deserves a Place to Call Home.” Our mission is simple: To help refugees and other newcomers to the US, with legally-recognized humanitarian protection, find and keep stable housing. And in our 16 months of existence we've done just that, helping over 270 refugees from

With federal aid to refugees and the resettlement groups that have traditionally helped them eliminated, many newcomers have been left without financial assistance or safety net. RHMN helps restore that missing support system by assisting newcomers find and keep long-term housing, help them communicate with landlords and understand leases, and troubleshoot issues should they arise. We connect clients with Bridging to furnish apartments and with other social service agencies for food, medical and employment needs.

Based on available funds and assessment of need, we provide security deposits and limited rental assistance to clients in urgent situations. Client self-sufficiency is always promoted and encouraged; 80% of our clients gain autonomy within the first month, and have no need for further rental assistance

Refugee Housing Minnesota (RHMN) consists of a small band of dedicated volunteers—some former associates of faith-based, but now shuttered, resettlement agencies—well-versed in refugee housing needs. No one draws a salary; our paychecks consist of smiles and a sense that we are making an impact in this topsy-turvy world.
