We are a 'no-kill' shelter located in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Our mission is to provide a safe refuge for animals in need while building & promoting compassion within the community and locating forever homes through adoption. We are licensed through the state of Minnesota: #MN195041
We serve a large rural community expanding past Redwood Falls and well into Redwood, Renville, Kandioyhi, Lyon, and Brown counties. We receive requests for intakes all over the state and neighboring states.
In 2025, we have provided care & housing for nearly 300 animals - both felines and canines. Our intakes have nearly doubled from the year prior and the request for surrenders and stray intakes have significantly increased. We have dramatically increased our adoption success rates as well with over 200 adoptions thus far.
All of our animals require medical services whether this is simply spay and neutering, routine medications such as flea and tick preventatives and vaccines. However, many of our animals have required extensive medical care. A few have required emergency vet services such as intravenous fluids, to requiring emergency surgical procedures such as eye enucleation (removal) and limb amputation. We've treated Lyme's disease, various eye, ear, respiratory and systemic infections, ear mites, ringworm, fleas, viral infections, and much more. Nearly every animal requires some sort of medical intervention.
While those services are managed through generous donors, it is the work behind the scenes that one does not realize until they are in the deep of it. Animal care and welfare is a calling. Nothing prepares you for this. It is holding an animal when they shake uncontrollably out of fear due to the uncertainty of a new environment. It's the unknowing an animal has taking their last ride with their family before being surrendered to the shelter. It's the giving an animal their space and distance while extending comfort from afar. It's crying alongside an animal while that animal cries out for comfort, for familiarity, for any semblance of normal. It's sobbing when having to say goodbye to an animal that you poured everything into trying to save them and our broken world prohibited a positive outcome for them. It's being on call 24/7 in case an owner has passed and their pets need immediate placement. It's taking a leap of faith when you do not have the resources, staffing, funding or space but it's the calling of salvation for an animal in need.
Why do we do it? We are the voice for the voiceless. We are the advocate... the saving grace... the difference between life and death. And while we cannot save everyone in our world, we may be saving the world for that one animal.
Adopting a shelter animal does more than save one life. It saves two. Adoption allows us to save another animal in need. The work simply does not cease. It continues. And to be a part of this wonderful journey for an animal - it is truly a blessing that nothing else in this world can give to us. To be the voice, the saving grace, the blessing that was so desperately needed - there is no greater reward than to care for others in their time of need.
This is why we need you. We need you to join our mission. We need you to join us, to care for others in their time of need. We simply cannot do the work that we do without your generosity and support. Unfortunately, nothing in this world is free and animal welfare is not exempt from that rule. Help us continue to do the good work. Help us help those who desperately seek help. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us. Thank you for being a friend to the animals at our shelter.
