The Red Ribbon Society is a Twin Cities-based volunteer-run non-profit group with an educational interest in steampunk and historical activities.
A passion for history and steampunk is the common interest that ties together the different talents of our volunteers and inspires us create varied and imaginative activities that bring us together with our audiences.
Our mystery games usually take place in the alternate history world of Steam Century around the year 1900. We begin with an idea and develop the story details and characters around that idea. Our stories are quite varied from one to the next, which affords us broad opportunities to present aspects of Native American and other cultures or mythologies, technological developments, social issues, and other concepts.
At science fiction conventions our mysteries, panel presentations on cultural and historical topics, and hands-on crafting activities appeal to a wide range of ages. We are not funded by conventions and do not charge participants, who paid the convention for admittance, although they are free to donate or leave a tip.
At events that we host ourselves, we strive to keep ticket prices low, $5-$10, to make it affordable to as many people as possible. The costs of providing these activities are covered by donations and by partnering events with other non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities.
Your donation will help us continue to provide these fun and educational mystery games, crafting hours, and discussion panels to a wide audience.
