Red Eye

A nonprofit organization

Red Eye is continually in process. After more than two years without a space, last spring we officially opened and began programming in our new venue, located on Dakota land, in the Seward neighborhood of South Minneapolis. Since last March, we’ve been lucky to witness the first artistic experiments in Red Eye’s new home—filling the space with light, language, sound, and movement. We’ve already welcomed hundreds of audience members into the theater to experience contemporary performance, to witness, to consider, and to be surprised.

Space means so much to artists who create performance. But it’s only as transformative as the artists that fill it. That’s why we’re asking our community to support the artists in Red Eye’s programs. Your gift goes directly to ensure that artists have the resources they need to create their work, to support their experimentation, and bring all the bright possibility and exciting potential of this new space to life.

In the coming months, we’ll produce the long-running New Works 4 Weeks Festival, an annual gathering and cornerstone of the Twin Cities performance landscape. The cohort of artists—spanning dance, theater, music, and other interdisciplinary performance practices—will be announced next month.  We’re supporting the process of four artists through our OMNIVERS program. We just wrapped up a co-presentation with SuperGroup, and Co-Artistic Director Valerie Oliveiro has new work in development. And we welcome a range of other productions by artists in the community via our curated rental program.

Can you join us in celebrating these artists and their processes through a donation in any amount that is meaningful to you? We welcome online contributions here on GiveMN.org, or you can mail a check to Red Eye Theater, 2213 Snelling Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55404.

If you would like to discuss your gift with one of the Red Eye Artistic Directors, feel free to connect with us at staff@redeyetheater.org.

P.S. Stay tuned for updates about our plans for the space, and the last phase of realizing our vision of a fully flexible black box theater. We’re so grateful for our community that has supported this dream along the way, and joined us to experience the transformative potential of performance.
