Read With Me MN

At Read With Me MN, we believe every child deserves to see themselves and their community reflected in the books they read. 

We are a local Minnesota nonprofit dedicated to promoting diversity in children’s literature by:

• Amplifying the voices of local authors and illustrators

• Donating diverse children’s books to schools, classrooms, and community organizations

• Hosting events that bring families, authors, and communities together around the joy of reading

Since our launch in February 2025, we’ve already:

• Donated over 200 books to classrooms and families in the Twin Cities

• Partnered with local authors on over 15 events to connect kids with the people behind the stories

• Hosted community literacy events, making books and reading accessible and fun for all families

• Opened a Read With Me MN Little Free Library in North Minneapolis to share local author and illustrator's books with the community

We’re powered entirely by volunteers — educators, parents, and book lovers — who believe in the power of stories to shape futures.

This Give to the Max Day, your support will help us:

• Expand our book donation program so more kids have access to diverse stories

• Provide free literacy events that celebrate books and community

• Uplift the voices of local authors whose stories deserve to be heard

Together, we can make sure every child in Minnesota — a state with a proud history of welcoming refugees and rich cultural diversity, yet one of the nation’s widest opportunity gaps — can open a book and say, ‘That’s me.’
