Hello! You are on the year-round fundraising page for the Kenwood PTA, a nonprofit group serving Kenwood Community School, a public elementary (K-5) school in Minneapolis. Our diverse community includes many neighborhoods across Uptown and Downtown Minneapolis.

Smarts + Arts

Kenwood provides an inclusive, joyful, and student-centered atmosphere for children to learn and grow. Relationships with families and community partners are integral to the way that Kenwood students thrive. Arts integration and PTA-sponsored residencies at every grade level are what spark the Kenwood slogan: Smarts + Arts. 

In addition to regular arts programs and field trips, ongoing residencies bring professional artists into school to work with students and teachers to enrich the classroom experience and reinforce aspects of the current curriculum. Some examples are: African drumming and dance with Brother Ghana, Midwest Food Connections, Taiko drumming, and Native American Art in the Present Tense.

Fundraising

Funds raised help our PTA support the entire Kenwood community across three areas, among other needs:

1. Smarts + Arts: residencies, field trips, activity scholarships, professional development, etc. 

2. Community-building: back-to-school events, Woodchuck Walks, sledding parties, Spring picnic, and more!

3. Supplies: supporting classroom teachers, our school social worker, gym classes, and outdoor gear for winter recess.
