Partnering with communities, schools, and teachers to support quality education for Tanzanian children and youth.

The barriers to achieving a quality education in rural Tanzania are many.  Students in rural areas face even larger hurdles to overcome as they progress through academic tracks.  Due to this, they are often poorly situated to attain life and career skills that will improve their quality of life. 

Project Zawadi seeks to address these barriers through our work in three program areas: 

• Student Sponsorship: Provide student support for the most vulnerable students (ie. uniforms, school supplies, school fees, academic and career counseling, extracurricular opportunities). 
• Model Schools:  Provide school support to address inadequate infrastructure (ie. overcrowding or lack of classrooms, teachers’ housing, desks, water, sanitation, dormitories) 
• Tenda Teachers: Provide teacher support to address situation in rural schools (ie. too few teachers, over-crowded classrooms, under-trained teachers, outdated teaching styles, little teacher professional support)
