Supporting healthy youth development through nature-based outdoor experiences!

Since 2005, Project GO has worked to connect low-income youth and children of color to the outdoors by empowering out-of-school, community-based organizations to incorporate nature activities into their programming. Working hand-in-hand with local community action organizations, we provide training and guidance as they navigate the processes of designing, implementing and sustaining their own unique Project GO after school programs.  Programs strive to reach children who do not have access to traditional outdoor programs such as YMCA, 4-H and Scouting activities.

In 2023, we are focused on the Healing Forest project to support 15 area health care/mental health/recreational therapy/youth development community leaders who work with BIPOC youth and young adults experiencing trauma. These cohort members will participate in the Nature and Forest Therapy Guide certification and bring nature-based healing experiences to our youth in southeast Minnesota and the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. Their learning journey will be documented and each cohort member will share a final presentation with their colleagues about the experience. Final presentations will be recorded and posted to the Project GO YouTube channel so the world might learn from this project!
