PROCEED: Empowering Communities, Transforming Lives
PROCEED is a nonprofit organization fostering empowerment and well-being within the African American and BIPOC communities on the East Side of St. Paul. Through five key areas—employment, education, youth enrichment, health, and civic/community engagement—PROCEED drives transformative change.
PROCEED programming includes annual job fairs connecting over 700 job seekers with employers, a workforce center with specialized support, and mobile office spaces for community partnerships. Early intervention tools, annual HBCU college tour, and educational excellence development. Initiatives introduce youth to STEM robotics, AI, and drone technology programs, aviation, are processed throughout the summer, while leadership institutes, sports, arts, and creative development are expressed as able throughout the year.
Health insights such as diabetes prevention instruction, nutrition programs, volunteer-led health services, and dementia support are consistently addressed. To progress understanding cultural events, public forums, and emergency assistance initiatives fostering community resilience are conducted throughout the year.
The Fishes and Loaves Food Shelf ministry is currently one of PROCEED’s largest programs, distributing up to 7,000 pounds of food monthly, 1,000-2,000 pounds every Saturday.

In addition, Proceed is in the crux of developing youth complex and community center to meet the expanding needs of the East Side community. Proceed is partnering with 5 organizations to plan and implement this project. Progressive Baptist Church, which is the founding organization of Proceed. The University of Minnesota will be hosting a clinic in the Proceed Youth Complex. Therapeuo Mental Health is a mental health clinic that targets the African American and BIPOC community. Wold architects and engineers is working with Proceed to develop the architectural layout and plan of the complex. Mortenson Construction is the organization working on the construction of the project and will be managing all construction related to the project. This facility will house all PROCEED programming, along with the other addressed organizations.
