Prior Lake News Compass (PLNC) is a trustworthy source for local news and information that will be accessible anytime and from anywhere.
A group of local residents came together in late 2024 to fill the void left when the community's long-published newspaper ceased operation. We are governed by a volunteer board committed to providing coverage of local news, events and people, free of charge. There is no private ownership, and our financial needs are met through the generosity of readers, businesses and local organizations.
To date, we have nearly 2,500 area residents who have signed up to receive our weekly newsletter and have access to the local content posted on our website, www.PLNewsCompass.org. Several such organizations -- the McKnight Foundation, NewsMatch and the Institute for Nonprofit News -- recognize the essential service community-based news organizations provide for local residents, and are offering to match funds in November and December 2025 to organizations like the PLNC. Individual donations of up to $1,000 made by the end of the year will be doubled, and make a substantial impact on our ongoing mission to inform, engage and connect our community.
Thank you in advance for supporting our local news organization, the Prior Lake News Compass.
