$50,000 Goal
At PRG, we're narrowing the racial homeownership gap. Donating to PRG ensures that more families of color achieve affordable homeownership or stay in their homes when struggling to pay the mortgage. Our prepurchase education and one-on-one advising programs result in approximately 220 new homeowners of color annually.
Homebuyer EDUCATION and advising
Through prepurchase education and one-on-one advising, PRG supported 1,496 households on their path to homeownership in 2024, reaching over 5,500 individuals across the Twin Cities. We provided group workshops, personalized advising, and practical tools that helped first-time and first-generation buyers navigate the complex homebuying process with confidence. These services create momentum for wealth-building across entire families and communities.
Foreclosure Prevention Advising
We know keeping families, especially BIPOC families, in their homes is essential to closing the racial homeownership gap. In 2024, every PRG client with a resolved case avoided foreclosure. Our advisors combine deep technical knowledge with a culturally responsive approach, preserving housing, long-term financial stability, and peace of mind for the families we serve.
Affordable Housing Development
To expand access to affordable homeownership, PRG continued to build and sell high-quality homes in 2024. Each is priced affordably, sold to income-qualified buyers, and meets Energy Star and Zero Energy Ready Home standards, offering long-term savings of up to $3,000 annually. With 89% of buyers identifying as BIPOC and an average income of 71% of the area median, our development model proves that quality, affordable, and sustainable housing development is possible.
Public Policy & Resource deployment
PRG plays a dual role in the housing ecosystem: we help shape policy and resource allocation, and we deliver on its promise. After years of advocacy that helped secure historic housing investments, 2024 marked a turning point. We became a down payment assistance originator, trusted to deploy resources directly to the households they were designed to support. In just six months, we deployed over $1.5 million in down payment assistance, primarily to BIPOC and first-generation buyers.
