Speaking to MN Fosters - Barriers To THEIR Info
$1,250 Raised
Power of Story is dedicated to uncovering the barriers foster youth face in accessing their personal history, stories, photos, and medical records. We've identified what the barriers are, now we need to know what is most important and impactful to foster youth. To achieve this, we aim to engage 15-30 current and former foster youth in Minnesota through a live paid survey format. The valuable insights gained will shape the future direction and activities of Power of Story, and its efforts for MN foster youth for the next two years. This initiative requires funding of $5,000.

About This Cause
Understanding and having access to your personal life history is key to building a healthy identity, accessing appropriate interventions, feeling accepted and processing a complex past, but is often not available to young people who have experienced foster care, adoption or kinship care. We engage young people, care-takers and professionals in the research and curation of life histories, provide training rooted in youth-centered best practices, and advocate for increased awareness and quality implementation of life histories. Power of Story's vision is that young people who have experienced out of home placement have equal, consistent person-centered access to their history, stories, photos, and medical information.
