Poverty Eradication Network Trust is a nonprofit based in Dodoma, Tanzania. Established in 2004, PEN Trust, in cooperation with local and the American donor community, has served the poor of the central region through a variety of programs, including distribution of seeds, microloans, food distributions, construction projects, offering student scholarships, distribution of books, computers, school supplies and solar installations. PEN Trust’s largest project revolves around book distributions and establishing libraries. PEN Trust has partnered with Books For Africa since 2004 and has distributed over 350,000 text, library and professional books. In partnership with The Bourke Family Foundation, PEN Trust has installed 100 solar panel units in newly created libraries located off-grid and distributed 1,978 individual solar room lights for students' home use.
