A safe and inclusive church living God's radical message
Founded in 1905, Peace United Church of Christ has a long history of working for the needs of our community and for social justice causes. One of the key developments in our history was the building and creation of Samaritan Convalescent Home. Now independently owned, we hold six positions on the Samaritan Bethany Board of Directors. Our current focus is working with organizations who are handling the homelessness issue in Rochester, especially for teens. We host a free Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving and are key supporters to the LGBT community. We welcome and affirm all people of every race, nationality, age, marital status, gender, economic status, sexual orientation and mental or physical ability.
We are the location for Listos Preschool and Childcare Center - Rochester's first dual-immersion, Spanish-English preschool and childcare center.
In Spanish, Listos means both smart and ready. That's the idea behind Listos Preschool and Childcare. The curriculum and culture at Listos will prepare children for kindergarten and for success in a global society.
Preschool age children are in the prime language learning years of their lives. Brain research shows the majority of language learning happens from birth to age five. Early language learning also has positive affects on brain structure, builds a desire to learn well past preschool age, fulfills and increases curiosity about the world and builds confidence in language abilities.
Listos is seeking contributions to provide scholarships to make this high-quality program available to all children, as well as donations to continue the Listos programming.
Listos is a nonprofit organization serving children ages 33 months to 5 years and their families. The program does not have any religious curriculum.
Listos has it's own website at: http://www.listoskids.org/
