Living at Home of the Park Rapids Area

We mobilize volunteers and other community resources to enable seniors to remain living in the home of their choice.

Recently I received a phone call from a Detroit Lakes physical rehabilitation center.  They had a senior who lived in Park Rapids that was being discharged and was going to be  needing some help getting to appointments and such while she healed.

The first appointment was the next day so I decided that this was a perfect opportunity for me to actually experience our program first hand.

I arrived to pick up the senior for her appointment to find her waiting outside for me, ready to go!

On our drive to her appointment we had a chance to visit about her recent surgery, what her plans were for the rest of her rehab, etc.

She explained to me that when she was getting ready to come back home, the rehabilitation center was concerned.  They wanted to know what her plan was for getting to her physical therapy appointments and also, how would she get groceries and such.

She went on to explain that “I told them, I have Living at Home!  You should get yourself one!” She stated this in such a matter of fact manner that you would think you could buy our program off the shelf.

Her comment was so cute but it also made me reflect on just how important and needed the services that we are able to offer are.

Donations made by donors such as yourself are the reason we can continue to help local  seniors remain in their own homes and not worry about going it “alone”.

Like ripples on the lake, one good deed spreads across the whole community.
