BUILDING A BRIDGE FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW

While the Constitution of Minnesota pledges every child an adequate education, the Orono Foundation for Education and Orono Public Schools ardently believe that all Orono students not only deserve adequacy, but an EXCELLENT education. The financial landscape for all Minnesota school districts remains pressured due to the State's funding falling behind inflation trends since 2003. Local tax dollars are distributed evenly among school districts across the state based on number of students enrolled. The only dollars guaranteed to stay in our district are referenda funds approved by district voters and private donations to nonprofits that support the school, like the Foundation. Private funds are imperative to ensure that our schools remain at the forefront of innovation, expanding initiatives that positively impact current and future generations of learners.

Through the generosity of our donors and commitment from the Orono community on the tradition of excellence at Orono Schools, the Orono Foundation for Education fulfilled $464,530 in grant requests from the Orono School District in 2022-2023. Orono students and their educational experiences have been transformed for the better by our community’s active participation and personal investment into the schools. Contributions to the Foundation help to ensure:

These initiatives have had a significant impact on student achievement, helping Orono Schools to rank among the best in the state. By supporting the Orono Foundation, you help ensure that every student has access to the tools and resources they need to succeed.
