About The Theatre

The Zephyr Theatre is a nonprofit, community-driven organization focused on providing inclusive, accessible arts education and arts experiences to the Stillwater area. Beginning in 2013, the company then known as “Only A Dim Image Productions” started producing theatre events at Twin Cities stages such as the Southern, the Ritz, and the Music Box theatres. In 2016, the search began to find a home in the St. Croix Valley and discovered the long-vacant Minnesota Zephyr Train Depot. After moving to this new home, Only A Dim Image Productions was recreated as a nonprofit and rebranded as “The Zephyr Theatre.”

During its history in the St. Croix Valley, the Zephyr Theatre has:

• Reached over 53,000 audience members
• Served over 3,680 youth in our arts education programming
• Held over 325 productions and events
• Welcomed over 200 Sustaining Members
• Hosted over 100 concerts
• Partnered with over 80 businesses
• Offered Arts and Music Education programming in 12 local schools
• Joined with dozens of other nonprofits to offer arts events in the community

Overcoming challenges

Following the pandemic, the theatre faced and overcame many challenges and is now

positioned to see a bright future providing live arts performances and education in

Stillwater, MN. This has been made possible by the hard, persistent work and generous

financial support from many people throughout our community. We are grateful to the

City of Stillwater, its residents, and its business community for their commitment to the

arts and their support through such a challenging time.

Onward to the future!

As we grow into the future, we plan to:

• Provide and grow our excellent theatre education programs
• Present multiple live arts productions in partnership with venues in and around Stillwater
• Strengthen our financial position to build a trustworthy foundation 
• Consistently produce live arts performances in our area
• Continue to help our community reach its potential through the arts!
