A residential friendship community serving citizens with intellectual, emotional, and physical challenges.

Thirty + years ago eight individuals with intellectual disabilities invited their friend and adviser to help them create a home together. They knew that caring for each other was the key to their well-being and independence. Now On Our Own includes sixty members centered around several residences in St Paul, MN. Members have chosen a Board of Guardians and are training their apprentice Executive Director to share the responsibilities of their original friend and advisor. On Our Own continues to thrive and plan for the future with a foundation of collaboration and interdependence.
