Who Are We?

The Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church, otherwise known as "Mindekirken," is a church home for Norwegians and all those interested in experiencing the rich heritage that Mindekirken has to offer!    Mindekirken is a self-supporting congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, located in South Minneapolis, founded by and for Norwegian emigrants in 1922.  Currently, Sunday worship services are shared via YouTube on our website www.mindekirken.org -- both in Norwegian and in English! Norwegian language learning classes are offered online as well.

Mindekirken continues to provide a genuine cultural experience – through language, music, arts and food traditions.  The church serves as a link between the Midwest USA and Norway.   The church celebrates its centennial in 2022 and we look forward to another 100 years of being a home for Norwegian-Americans and others in the Midwest, as well as a strong connection to Norway.
