Track & Field practices begin March 9!

2020 will mark our 5th season of track & field and our 7th season of cross country running.

2019 Highlights, thanks to our supporters:

  • Team Academic Excellence Recognition from the MN State High School Coaches' Association and dozens of MSHSL Spotlight on Scholarship individual student-athlete awards.
  • Team community service projects including the Hanover Harvest Festival, Corcoran Night to Unite, and Hanover Lions pancake breakfast and senior dinner.  9 student-athletes received individual Presidential Volunteer Service Awards this year.
  • Family events including a fun run for younger siblings, organized by our student-athletes.
  • Survival of unusually poor weather conditions through additional facility rentals.
  • Training of new coaches.
  • Strength and agility/mobility equipment was purchased, resulting in improved performances and a reduction in injuries.
  • 1 Track & Field State Championship qualifier who also earned All-State honors and All-State Academic recognition.
  • 8 additional Track & Field athletes earned All-State Academic through a combination of regular-season performances and GPA.
  • 3 MSHSL Cross Country State Championship qualifiers;  of those, 1 earned All-State honors and all 3 earned All-State Academic recognition.

We are fundraising for the following in 2020:

  1. Ongoing team expenses (equipment, facility rental, uniforms, race fees, league dues, insurance, incentives and awards, coach training, team events, etc.). Activity fees only partially offset this. Everything is run by volunteers, so your donation directly benefits student-athletes.
  2. Team bus to the Section Track & Field meet at St. John’s University (June) and to the Section Cross Country meet at Mora (October). We otherwise drive separate carpools to every T&F and CC meet, but it’s just not the same as the experience of everyone riding together. Sections is a celebration of a season of hard work as a team; regardless of who qualifies and competes, everyone should have the opportunity to go and cheer!

To cover this, our fundraising goal for 2020 is $4500 for both sports of track & field and cross country.

The Northwest Homeschool Athletic Cooperative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers. Our purpose is to provide homeschooled students the opportunity to participate together in interscholastic athletics, giving athletes from junior high through high school a true competitive team experience while fostering relationships among participants, their families, and the local community. Our home schools are members of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), cooperatively sponsoring sports teams for cross country running and track & field and competing with local public and private schools.

Most new team members have no athletic experience, and they frequently express how much they enjoy being part of a team.

The kids are committed to their team and work hard to serve the local community. Hands-on fundraising efforts help; but beyond that, we rely on team families, friends, and local organizations to help fill the gaps. We value building relationships and would love your support.

Thank you for your consideration!
