Strengthening Families Through Artistic Play

It's been a long pandemic, hasn't it? Even though we are still working our way through getting our world back to normal, we are so excited to be back with some regular programming designed to bring families together for artistic play!

Our Community Nights at Harrison program kicked off in September and has steadily grown each Thursday night as more friends are discovering or rediscovering us. This is what we've been up to:

First Thursdays: Creativity in the Kitchen, our culinary arts program designed to get families cooking together and learning more about different foods. In October, we brought nine different kinds of apples and families had an opportunity to sample them and vote on their favorites while also making apple crisp together.

Second Thursdays: Our brand new "Playtime" series!! Each month, we focus on a different community leader, activist or entrepreneur, invite them to join us and share more about their chosen field, and then enjoy their favorite snacks and games together.

Third Thursdays: Family Connect Club - We focus on a quality we would like to see more of in our community (kindness, safety, and gratitude have been our first three), share a meal together, and play a game and/or create art that centers around that quality.

Fourth Thursdays: Imagination Station! This is our "anything goes" program. Sometimes we do a STEAM activity (like our wind tunnel and tinkering in September); other times we bring in a guest artist to share their expertise. Sometimes we just bring a bunch of art supplies to see what amazing things people can make out of them.

When it is safe again, we will be bringing back our flagship events, Haunted Happenings and Egg-Splosion, but for now we are so excited and so grateful to be connecting with the families in our community through art again.

We have secured funding from several organizations that believe in our mission and have chosen to partner with us, but without the families who come to our programs each week, NEAC would be just a good idea on a piece of paper! If you are still deciding which organization to support for Give to the Max Day, we hope that you will consider partnering with us to keep all of these exciting programs free or low cost for all who attend.
