North Country Ride

A nonprofit organization

Changing Lives and Creating Smiles since 1982! Please support our equine assisted therapeutic programs!

North Country Ride teaches children and adults basic horsemanship and provides them a safe environment  to climb on a horse, communicate their intention and RIDE!

“My son cannot participate in most of the after school athletic activities available for kids his age, It has been so wonderful for him to have his own activity, and to hear him brag about steering a 1,000 pound horse around an obstacle all by himself.”

Riders ranging from 5 to 73 years of age, gain strength and flexibility as they work to sit correctly and communicate with the horse through posture, leg and arms movements as well as verbal cues. Riders build confidence, gain respect for themselves and others in teh group lessons.

A great variety of individualized goals adapt to the therapeutic riding setting where the atmosphere, interactions, and commitment to a quality experience provide a wonderful opportunity for growth.

Josh, a bright young man with a visual impairment was a first time rider this year. He wrote: “Learning how to ride the horse was interesting and exciting. I liked being able to steer the horse, and I especially enjoyed trotting.  I have been going through a bit of a rough patch in life, and it is usually difficult to make me really excited about anything. However, every week I looked forward to riding.”

Community support through volunteering, financial donations and gifts-in-kind are critical to our ability to fulfill our mission. Support out horses and our riders. Help create smiles and change lives!

North Country RIDE is a 501(c)3 organization and your donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.
