Nexus Community Partners

Twenty years ago, we planted a seed. 

We didn't know what shape it would take—only that it would grow from the strength of community. Since then, Nexus has evolved into a force for collective power, nationally recognized for innovation—while always grounded in our local roots. 

At Nexus, we know transformation can take many forms:

•    It's 50 cohort graduates stepping into leadership roles across boards, commissions, and cooperatives.

•    It's $5 million in wealth-building gifts to 100 Black people in MN, ND, and SD.

•    It's quieter sometimes too: the self-care of a sabbatical, or the nurturing of co-ops and networks behind the scenes.

Every one of Nexus' programs is an act of resistance and reclamation rooted in community and reaching toward liberation. ROOT (Reclaiming Our Own Time), the Open Road Fund, the Boards & Commissions Leadership Institute, the North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship, and the Shared Ownership Center at Nexus are all strategies for liberation, proof that another world is possible when we tend to each other. 

We're not waiting for broken systems to change. We're creating new ones.
