Newgate Education & Research Center Inc

Newgate School in Minneapolis, MN, is a non-profit technical school that provides tuition-free Auto Body and Auto Mechanics training to underserved, lower-income young adults in the Twin Cities community who are focused on attaining successful careers in the automotive industry.

Many of our students cannot afford post-secondary training or haven't been successful in more traditional classroom settings. They struggle to find good-paying jobs to support themselves and their families. Students who enroll at Newgate learn through 100% hands-on training on donated vehicles, learning the skills they need to become successful entry-level technicians, usually within 12-18 months.

Training is provided by our highly skilled instructors, who are master-level technicians and experts at transferring knowledge to our students. We train as many as 30 students at a time in our programs, and our graduates are highly sought after in the local industry. The training works because it's geared towards each individual student, there is a small instructor-to-student ratio, and each student works on a multitude of cars before they're ready to graduate. Instructors and staff communicate the importance of attendance, being on time, and working well with a team, which are all important aspects of success on the job. We partner with dealerships, national brands, and local, individually owned shops to match our students' skills and aspirations with companies and environments that will continue to support their success.
