New Ulm and State Street Theater Co. have a long theatrical history. Theater and musical performances date back to the founding of New Ulm when live performances were held at Turner Hall in the late 1850s.
State Street Theater Co. formed in 1978 as the Pioneer Players, then reformed as the New Ulm Actors Community Theatre in 2003, and adopted the name State Street Theater Co. in 2014 when it became owner of the historic site at 1 North State Street in New Ulm, MN.
The mission of State Street Theater Co. is to foster the joy and art of theater to people of all ages and backgrounds in and around New Ulm, Minnesota, via education and productions; to responsibly care for and interpret its historic site and murals on behalf of those same residents and patrons; and to provide its spaces to the community.
