This Give to the Max Day, you have the power to bring hope to Congolese young women through education and trauma-focused therapy. 

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, young girls are trapped in a daily struggle for survival. Instead of classrooms and safety, they face the harsh realities of life in the mines, long hours of backbreaking labor, exposure to danger, a very real risk of death from mines collapsing, and the ever present threat of sexual exploitation.

Many of these girls work to support their families. Unfortunately, the pay they receive is very little.  They are robbed of their childhoods, education, and skills that would help them obtain financial autonomy, serve their communities, and escape the mines.

Mwendo Congo has been partnering with Congolese-led Let Africa Live for the past 10 years.

Let Africa Live has a vision for programs to reach girls who are suffering in the mines - offering them safety, healing, and a chance to build a better future. Your donation will provide:

• Education and trauma-focused therapy for adolescent girls
• Entrepreneurial training and initial capital for the parents of these girls
• Job skill training in hairdressing and beauty care for young adult survivors of sexual violence, towards financial autonomy and reintegration into their communities
