Mount Olive Lutheran Church Foundation

The Mount Olive Foundation exists solely to benefit the ministries of Mount Olive Lutheran Church at 31st and Chicago in Minneapolis.

Mount Olive is a musical, liturgical and welcoming community in and of the city. On June 6, 1972, the Foundation was established as an endowment to ensure that generations yet unborn would benefit from our church's vibrant ministries. The Foundation's sole purpose is to support the ministry of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. As a legal entity separate from the church, the Foundation has its own articles of incorporation, bylaws, and board of directors. Since its inception, the Foundation has distributed over $400,000 to support various programs at the church, including neighborhood ministries, installation of solar panels on the roof of Mount Olive, investments in our geothermal heating and cooling system, improvements to the physical structure of the Church like the stained glass window repair, and training for future church musicians. 

Giving to the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Foundation provides an investment in the future of the Missions of Mount Olive Lutheran church, including 

• Bargain Box: Gather and sell new and gently used clothing for infants and children.
• Community Meals: Prepare and serve a delicious lunch two Saturdays a month.
• Diaper Depot: Offer packs of diapers at a much-reduced price.
• Our Saviour’s Meal: Prepare and serve dinner to 50 residents of Our Saviour’s Housing program.
• Sheridan Story: Prepare backpacks of food for families at Jefferson Community School and support school programming.
• Cold Weather Warming Site: Mount Olive is a part of the Hennepin County Cold Weather Warming Site program, proving a safe location for those on the street who need shelter when temperatures drop.

The Christus Rex Society Christus Rex, or Christ the King, declares that Jesus Christ is truly the central focus of our lives as Christians. Members of The Christus Rex Society have provided for the Foundation through a current gift of stock, cash or mutual fund shares, or through a deferred gift such as a will provision, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, life insurance policy, or IRA or 401(k) beneficiary designation. These individuals recognize the important role that Mount Olive plays in spreading Christ's message in our community and beyond. Representing The Christus Rex Society is the eternal flame located in Mount Olive's sanctuary, honoring the memory of Pastor Herbert J. Mueller, brother of Ruth Manz. Like this flame, the gifts and commitments of the Society's members will enable Mount Olive's ministry to burn brightly for years to come.
