The Morris Park Singers brings together a community of individuals who share a love of music. Core to the mission, the choir is not auditioned and there are no fees to participate. This way, we can create an accessible and welcoming community for all.

About Us

The Morris Park Singers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit mixed voice (SATB) community choir based in NE Minneapolis. 

Mission: To foster an accessible, supportive choral experience for people looking to (re)introduce a creative musical outlet into their lives. 

Vision: Create an inclusive artistic community that welcomes, celebrates, and encourages the talents of individuals through a shared love of choral music.

History

The choir was originally formed in January of 2022 under the umbrella of the Morris Park Players, a community theater company, as a placeholder during Covid as putting on full musicals was not possible. As the choir encountered (and is still experiencing) quick and expansive growth and success, they formed their own organization in May of 2024. The choir started with only 18 singers and 68 tickets sold at the first concert. As of our 4th season concert in May of 2024, our choir has over tripled in size and ticket sales reached almost 300 tickets!

The choir rehearses and performs at Mill City Church in NE Minneapolis. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. They do two mini-seasons a year (one in the fall and one in the spring) with a concert at the end of each season and the summer off. This allows for singers who have a busier month or two to only have to take a few months off of choir instead of having to go without that music outlet for an entire calendar year. 

To continue to pay respect to where the choir started, there is always a small focus on Broadway and popular repertoire (1/3+ of the concert music). The rest of the concert, however, is filled with a variety of music, from Renaissance motets to modern spirituals to new original music. A varying musical experience for our singers is very important to the Morris Park Singers.
