Moms Demand Action, Minnesota Chapter

We're a nonpartisan, grassroots volunteer network of Everytown for Gun Safety.
We are raising funds to support our work in Minnesota in partnership with Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization that focuses on awareness and educational work related to gun violence prevention.

As Moms Demand Action volunteers, we organize, we table events, we make phone calls, we spread the word about gun safety. Across Minnesota, we show up.

Children deserve to feel safe, no matter where they are.

Image CaptionSince 2015 there were at least 48 unintentional shootings by children, resulting in 17 deaths and 33 injuries across Minnesota.

Through our participation in Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund Be SMART program, we raise awareness that every adult can play a role in keeping kids and communities safer. 

For example, the majority of gun homicides and assaults in the US involve stolen or illegal guns. In towns and cities that report data to the FBI, gun thefts from cars are the largest source of stolen guns. Often, these guns end up being used in other crimes in our communities.

One of the most effective ways to prevent shootings is to ensure all guns are stored securely in homes, cars, and elsewhere. The gold standard for secure gun storage is to keep all guns unloaded, locked up, and separate from ammunition. 

Be SMART is just one example of how parents, caretakers, and community leaders can learn practical ways to help keep their communities safe. Ultimately, we can all help prevent kids from accessing firearms by storing them securely, and encouraging others to do the same.
