Mobile Menders is a volunteer group dedicated to providing free mending services to those in need in and around the Twin Cites. Mobile Menders was started by Michelle Ooley in June of 2017. 

She realized a need for mending clothes for people in need was not being met.

Mobile Menders offers a variety of mending services. From hemming a pair of pants, replacing a lost button on a favorite shirt to repairing a ripped pocket on a winter coat. We also repair zippers when we can and also mend cherished stuffed toys. 

We also work with groups on specialized events, such as coat drives and mend-it-clincis with local county organizations and partner with local schools to provide in-house mending services to the students, families and faculty.  

No matter what your situation Mobile Menders will do their best to help mend or repair your item.

We are passionate about keeping clothes out of our landfills. We achieve this by working together with people to repair their clothing and teach simple sewing skills.

January to June of 2019 Mobile Menders served over 430 people and mended approx. 822 pounds of clothing.

Mobile Menders in 2018 served over 687 people, mended over 1,698 items and saved approx. 1,814 pounds of clothing. 

Fundraising efforts will be used to help us fulfill our wish list:

•  Purchase new volunteer software which will allow us to better engage our volunteers and allow for easier communication between volunteers. It will also allow us to better track our donations and engage with potential donors.
• Update our marketing materials; display items, mending event materials, business cards, and other administrative needs.
• Create volunteer lead bags and supplies for our  team leads at our mending events and allow us to add more mending events.
• Rent a secure storage space to store donated mending supplies and other items.

Mobile Menders became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in June of 2019.
